SC Tea Party Leader: 'Unfortunate' Lindsey Graham Dismisses Grassroots

Joe Dugan, the Executive Producer of the South Carolina Tea Party Convention and Chairman of the Myrtle Beach Tea Party, appeared on Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125 and said 2014 will be an even bigger year for the movement than 2010, the year which put the Tea Party on the map and gave Republicans back the House of Representatives in an historic midterm election year.

Dugan told host and Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon, “2010 was a firecracker. 2014 is going to be an explosion.”

He said the Tea Party has always been right about the perils of Obamacare. He said when Americans get “hit in the pocketbook on Obamacare,” the Tea Party will get even more credibility on health care, which will make the movement gain more credibility on other issues such as the national debt. He said the impact will be felt at the ballot box.

Dugan said that citizens in the Tea Party movement “are the smartest people” and are well-versed in history and “up to date” on all of the relevant issues. Dugan said it angers him to hear people in Washington dismiss the conservative base as a bunch of rubes and noted how he dedicated his life to fight to take the country back after his grandchild was born.

Dugan said he wanted to have such a convention, which was livestreamed across the nation on Breitbart News and in Spanish, to get the movement’s message out to a broad group of people. He noted that the convention, in addition to having Congressmen, hosted speakers who were not household names but preeminent experts in their respective fields.

He expressed disappointment that incumbent South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R) representatives told him that “he’s going to be in another part of the state” and could not attend the convention. Duggan said that means Graham “doesn’t feel it’s important enough to talk to a sold-out Tea Party convention and grass roots activists” and to those who were watching the livestream across the country.

He specifically noted that South Carolinians are opposed to Graham’s position on the NSA, health care, and amnesty.

Breitbart News was at the convention over the weekend. Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow was the emcee for part of the event and received a standing ovation during his speech when he discussed the digital revolution that Andrew Breitbart and Breitbart News have stared and the importance of the Tea Party movement in America’s future.
