Steak Dinner, Gun Giveaway at Kentucky Baptist Church

On March 6th the Lone Oak First Baptist Church of Paducah, Kentucky, is hosting “faith and firearms,” which includes a steak dinner and “a chance to win a gun.”

The goal is to attract young “unchurched men” who “are passionate about hunting and their second amendment rights.”

According to the Huffington Post, “former pastor and avid hunter Chuck McAlister” will speak at the event. He did 50 similar events last year.

Said McAlister, “We have found that the number of unchurched men who will show up will be in direct proportion to the number of guns you give away.”

McAlister uses the phrase “affinity evangelism” to describe this method of attracting the unchurched. He said, “We get them in there and burp and scratch and talk about the right to bear arms and that stuff.” He said this opens the door for him to then talk to the men “on a more religious level as well.”
