Issa Spokesman: Release Of 36,000 Criminal Immigrants Shows 'Government Doesn't Control Our Borders'

The revelation that Immigration and Customs Enforcement released more then 36,000 criminal aliens is indicative of the ineffectiveness of current immigration enforcement, a spokesman for California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa told Breitbart News.

“This data reinforces what we have known for some time: our government doesn’t control our borders and doesn’t effectively deal with repeat offender criminal aliens who find themselves in the hands of law enforcement,” Issa’s spokesman wrote in an email to Breitbart Wednesday.

Monday the Center for Immigration Studies released a report about an internal document showing that last year ICE released 36,007 criminal aliens convicted of nearly 88,000 crimes, including murder, sexual assail and kidnapping.

Since news of the document broke GOP lawmakers have expressed outrage at the releases.

Indeed, Issa’s spokesman noted that — as Breitbart News has reported — the Judiciary Committee will be pressing for more information on the matter at an upcoming hearing.

“The House Judiciary Committee, on which Rep. Issa serves, is planning to address this issue at a hearing in the near future,” he said.
