GOP Rep Asks VA Secretary Shinseki for His Resignation

On May 23 Representative Ted Yoho (R-FL-03) sent a letter to Department of Veteran Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki “asking him for his resignation.”

Yoho made a statement after he sent the letter:

The decision to ask Secretary Shinseki to step down does not come lightly. I have a great amount of respect for his military service. However, there is a sacred trust between the veteran and the nation they risked their lives to protect. Ensuring that our veterans receive the care they need should be the foundation upon which the entire organization is built. The misconduct that occurred at the VA broke that trust, and we owe it to our veterans to ensure accountability and justice.

Yoho’s letter was also signed by fellow Florida Reps. Steve Southerland (R-FL-02), Dennis Ross (R-FL-12), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL-27), and Richard Nugent (R-FL-11).
