Obama to Slam Power Plants with More Regulations

The Obama administration is poised to announce even more stifling regulations on America’s power plants, a move sure to send our electric bills soaring again.

To satisfy the President’s alarmist global warming policies, Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will soon demand that fossil fueled power plants cut their emissions by an additional 30 percent by 2030.

The rule, implemented without any involvement of Congress, is to go into effect by June of 2016 according to Fox News.

The new rules does give states some flexibility in satisfying the demand, but if states do not impose local rules that satisfy the Obama EPA, the agency will act on its own and force the plants to toe the line.

To push his plan, Obama invoked the children.

“We don’t have to choose between the health of our economy and the health of our children,” Obama said on Sunday. “As president and as a parent, I refuse to condemn our children to a planet that’s beyond fixing.”

This is all of a piece with Obama’s attempt to destroy the coal-fired electric power plant industry, a goal he gets closer to completing every year.

In 2007 when Obama ran for the White House the first time, he told the editorial board of the San Francisco Chronicle that under his plan our energy costs would “necessarily skyrocket.”

So, it isn’t surprising that Dr. Julio Friedmann, the deputy assistant secretary for clean coal at the Department of Energy, has said Obama’s rules will cause electricity costs to rise 70 to 80 percent.

In this subpar Obama economy where more Americans have given up looking for work than ever before, these costs will be a further burden on the lower and middle classes.
