Dem Official Charged with Child Porn, 'Indecent Liberties with Minor'

A Virginia grand jury indicted Joe Morrissey, a Democrat Delegate, with four felonies Monday, including possession of child pornography, distribution of same, and indecent liberties with a minor. Morrissey is facing 30 years in prison if convicted.

The charges apparently stem from a relationship Morrissey had with a 17 year-old girl who works as a part-time receptionist at Morrissey’s law firm.

The girl applied for a job as a receptionist at the Morrissey & Goldman law firm, claiming to be 22-years-old, according to her attorney Sherri Thaxton. A copy of her job application and resume provided by Thaxton to the media back up her claim.

The girl was a receptionist for three weeks before an incident on August 23, when her father called police to Morrissey’s home. The girl’s mother says she gave her permission to be at the home and her lawyer says the father does not have custody of the teen.

Court documents showed a Henrico police detective confiscated the girl’s cell phone last year while investigating the possibility of someone “taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in custodial or supervisor relationship.”

The girl was taken from Morrissey’s home and denies any kind of inappropriate relationship with the Democrat.
