Police: Homeowner in Wheelchair Shoots, Kills Home Intruder

A wheelchair-bound homeowner in Powdersville, South Carolina, shot and killed a home invader who was trying to rob his home, officials said.

According to Greenville Online, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department was called to the residence of Orlandous Brown at 12:35 a.m. on July 3. Latisha Vernon – a friend of Brown – was at the residence when the incident occurred and she called in “a burglary in process.”

Police arrived to find “Vernon and her daughter… in the driveway calling to them.” They found the homeowner and the dead intruder in the living room.

The wheelchair-bound homeowner had been shot in the exchange of gunfire but was in stable condition after arriving at the hospital, according to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office.

The 26-year-old home invader was “pronounced dead at the scene.”
