Husband and Wife High School Coaches Arrested for Allegedly Molesting Teen

A husband and wife who were employed as high school coaches in Mississippi have been arrested and charged with allegedly sexually molesting a teen student, authorities say.

Michael L. Porter, 27, and, his wife, Blair Elizabeth Porter, 26, were both coaches for schools in Ridgeland, Mississippi, a northern suburb of Jackson in the central part of the state. The couple now face one charge each of sexual battery of a child. Blair is also pregnant with the couple’s child.

Authorities say that a teen girl on one of the teams that Michael Porter teaches developed an inappropriate relationship with the couple.

The girl’s parents claim that the coach was calling their daughter at inappropriate hours after school, and police report that the girl admitted to a sexual encounter with the couple in their home. Parents told police that this relationship “went well beyond that of a teacher student relationship.”

Police executed a search warrant and reportedly found sexually explicit texts and nude photos that had been exchanged via cell phone between the couple and the girl.

Police also reported that the victim alleged that a sexual encounter occurred in the press box at the school sports field as well.

The indictment that was handed down Friday alleged that the coach’s wife, Blair, had helped arrange for the meetings with the girl.

The school system terminated their employment as soon as the indictment was served.

If convicted, the pair could be sentenced to 30 years each in jail and would have to register as sex offenders.

The two were booked at the Madison County jail. Michael was then released on a $25,000 bond and Blair on a $5,000 bond.
