On July 30, a Kosciusko County, Indiana, suspect with a hammer fled after a son in the home he was allegedly burglarizing confronted him with a gun.
According to Wane.com, a female homeowner awoke just after 10 a.m. to a “suspicious sound” and discovered “a broken window and a man police believe to be [Mack S.] Stokes breaking into her home.” He was armed with a hammer.
The woman “alerted her son,” who then confronted the hammer-wielding suspect with a gun. Stokes got to his car and fled, but not before he “tried to run over the son.”
Police caught Stokes as he traveled north from the home, arrested him, and charged him with felony burglary. They also discovered he was driving someone else’s car without permission.
