Pro-Gun Pushback Makes Moms Demand Action Ditch Illinois Event

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America has pulled out of an Arlington Heights, Illinois, event “after the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) rallied its members to attend and protest the event.”

The event – National Night Out in North School Park – is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5.

According to the Daily Herald, a local chapter of Moms Demand applied to be “one of the 40 to 45 vendors on-site” for the event. The ISRA reacted by emailing its members and “[advising] them to call the park district to complain and then” to attend the event to counter Moms Demand.

The ISRA also asked members to alert every NRA member in the area and ask them to attend as well.

On August 4 the Moms Demand chapter emailed Arlington Heights Park District director Steven Scholten to say they had changed their minds: they will not be attending the National Night Out Event.
