Amnesty Groups to Illegals: Fill Up Piggy Bank Ahead of Executive Amnesty

Before President Barack Obama potentially enacts executive amnesty “by the end of summer,” amnesty advocates are urging illegal immigrants to start preparing now, including saving money to get potential work permits.

In addition to continuing to stay informed, the pro-amnesty group United We Dream urged illegal immigrants to “Start filling up that piggy bank!”

“You may want to open a bank account if you don’t have one,” the group said.

Acknowledging that Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was the “immigrant rights movement’s biggest success since 1986,” United We Dream told illegals that an ever bigger moment is coming.

“And thanks to our movement’s organizing, that day is coming soon!” they declared. “While we don’t know when the President will take action, or scope of Administrative Relief, it’s still important to get ready.”

They advised illegal immigrants who may potentially get executive amnesty not to get scammed, warning them that “there is currently no application process which means NO ONE, including lawyers, should retain a case. Do NOT pay immigration consultants, notaries or anyone else making false promises.”

The group also suggested that illegal immigrants get their documents ready, including “financial, school, property, marriage, divorce employment, medical and other records that show your name, U.S. address and date” and to “contact your local consulate to obtain copy of your birth certificate and an ID (valid passport or consular identification card).”

Other groups met with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) on Wednesday to prepare illegal immigrants in their communities to potentially get amnesty and work permits.
