White House: Creating a 'Tobacco-Free Generation' is a Top Priority for President Obama

The White House issued a statement praising CVS for banning cigarette sales from their stores, promoting their decision as a positive step forward in community health.

Earnest reminded reporters that Obama “has made creating a tobacco-free generation a top priority.”

President Obama was a cigarette smoker until 2010, when Michelle Obama asserted in 2011 that her husband had officially quit for “almost a year.”

In 2013, Obama told U.N. Special Rapporteur Maina Kiai that he had quit smoking because he was afraid of Michelle Obama.
