Willie Brown: Only Place Obama Well-Received Is His 'Black Base'

Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown told the New York Times that the best and only place for Democrats to deploy President Barack Obama heading into the midterm elections is with black voters.

“I’d have Obama on an evangelistic schedule of black churches all over the country,” said Brown. “I think he really should go to the black base. I don’t think there’s any other place I would trust he wouldn’t create an adverse reaction rather than a positive reaction.”

Vulnerable Democrats in tight races have distanced themselves from the unpopular Obama. The Hill reports that an internecine blame game has already broken out among Democrats over what promises to be a lackluster, if punishing, midterm election for Democrats.

Voters head to the polls in 27 days.
