Newtown ‘God Squad’ Claims Divine Command to Ban ‘Assault Rifles’

Newtown Rabbi Shaul Praver and Reverend Matthew Crebbin have joined hands to form the “God Squad,” claiming God commanded them to secure the ban of “assault rifles.”

According to Al Jazeera, Praver and Crebbin were “acquaintances” prior to the heinous attack on Sandy Hook Elementary and have since become co-advocates for stronger gun control measures they believe God told them to pursue.

They began their gun control push by going to Washington, D.C. “to lobby for background checks and a ban on ‘assault rifles'” in 2013. Crebbin met with lawmakers, yet the gun control bills put forth by Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) failed to pass.

Praver said he was disappointed in the way Republicans defeated gun control: “We won the majority, but they filibustered it so we needed more than a majority.”

With federal gun control out of reach, Praver and Crebbin say they are going to start pressuring corporations to implement gun control at their businesses. National Gun Victims Action Council president Elliot Fineman is joining the “God Squad” in this endeavor, believing “corporations can break the deadlock on difficult social issues.”

In August, Kroger said “no” to gun ban requests from Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. On December 8, Breitbart News reported that Kroger’s profits rose 21 percent after refusing to ban guns.
