Fifty-four year old Susan Hemeryck tried to destroy the display in the lobby of Florida’s Capitol Building on Tuesday, but she did not get very far before cops first warned her to stop and then arrested her.

“It’s just wrong, when you remove baby Jesus two days before Christmas and put Satan in his place,” said a woman wearing a “Catholic Warrior” tee-shirt after she tried to tear down a Satanic display at the Florida state capitol this week.

The display, erected by a group calling itself the Satanic Temple, shows an angel falling into flames, which is a retelling of Catholic teaching that Lucifer, considered the most beautiful and powerful angel, rejected God when it was revealed to him that he would have to follow the God-Man Jesus Christ and was cast down with his minions into hell. The display says, “Happy Holidays from the Satanic Temple.”

Hemeryck told the Associated Press, “I was there at the right time and the right moment and I needed to take a stand against Satan.”

While she faces a charge of criminal mischief, she has only one regret. “I just yanked that little devil off the fishing line. I should have done a better job and finished it off for good.”
