Police arrested one of two women who engaged in a fight using their walkers as weapons. Eventually, one had fallen and couldn’t get up, and the other was charged with a felony.

On December 8, Hamilton, Montana resident Joyce Marie Renfroe, 62, and her elderly roommate, Jeanne Hatfield, began to argue about finances. The argument quickly escalated to a physical altercation.

Renfroe allegedly demanded that Hatfield move aside so that she could leave the room, warning Hatfield that if she didn’t, Renfroe would use her walker as a battering ram to force Hatfield to move.

Hatfield reportedly refused to yield, whereupon Renfroe ran the woman down, knocking her over and damaging both women’s walkers. Hatfield sustained minor cuts and bruises in the assault.

The situation escalated further after Hatfield said she was going to call police. Renfroe yelled that she would kill the injured woman if she ever called the authorities.

Despite the threat, Hatfield called police the following day, and Renfroe was then arrested and charged with one felony of intimidation and misdemeanor counts of assault and criminal mischief. She was later released on her own recognizance.
