Police in St. Louis County have released a video to the public featuring hundreds of looters who destroyed shops during the riots in Ferguson, Missouri, in hopes that some can be identified.
The released surveillance video shows the looting of the Dellwood Market on the outskirts of Ferguson—crimes that occurred following the November 24 announcement of a grand jury’s decision not to indict a white police officer for the shooting of a black strong-arm robbery suspect in August.
Police say that up to 180 looters are seen breaking into the market and carrying out bottles of liquor and other merchandise.
Owners of the store, the Lalani family, say they suffered at least $300,000 in damages since rioting started after the death of teenager Mike Brown.
“The first time we were hit in August, it was like watching an action movie from Hollywood,” Jan Lalani told CNN. “In November, it was more the thought, ‘Oh my God, not again.’ I didn’t even know what to think.”
Calling the video, “pretty shocking,” Shawn McGuire, a spokesman for the St. Louis County Police, said that if even one looter is identified, it is a victory.
