Star Parker: Obama Prayer Breakfast Speech ‘Verbal Rape’

One of the most prominent black conservatives accused President Barack Obama of committing “verbal rape” with his National Prayer Breakfast speech last week in which Obama harped on the “terrible deeds” that had been committed “in the name of Christ” to tell Christians to get off their “high horse” regarding Islamic radicalism.

At the Prayer Breakfast, Obama brought up the crusades to emphasize that “people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ” while never linking much of today’s violence and terrorism to radical Islam.

“Unless we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ,” Obama said. “In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.”

On Breitbart News Saturday, Star Parker, the author of the new book Blind Conceit: Politics, Policy and Racial Polarization: Moving Forward to Save America, accused Obama of “rewriting history,” especially regarding the abolition and civil rights movement in which black and white Christians united to end segregation.

Parker was at the National Prayer Breakfast and was horrified during Obama’s speech–she described what Obama “did to us” as “verbal rape.” Parker said the “whole essence” of the prayer breakfast–and the three days of meetings–was the “bring together the three major religions of the world and see if they can sit down and and break bread and come to terms with each other.” She said that Obama was “so arrogant” that he could not even realize that the room was full of people from all over the world and half of the attendees were not even Christian.

Obama, according to Parker, “stole the momentum in the room, stole from those of us in the room, stole from the country… stole from the world” with his speech. Ultimately, Obama “reduced the whole meaning of the breakfast to meaningless.” White House aides have been scrambling since Obama’s remarks, even saying that he was intentionally trying to be provocative.

Parker tied Obama to the new generation of activists who want “revenge and redistribution” while the past civil rights movement was about “revenge and redistribution.”

She said that “50 years of social engineering of the left” has “divided us racially.” Parker blamed the feminist movement and the progressive war on poverty for paying people “to be irresponsible in their sexual behaviors.” She said that has led to the mentality that, “we’re all entitled” and “we’re all victims.” Parker also mentioned that one-third of black America is evangelical and conservative in their values, “but they just don’t have a voice” because agitators like Al Sharpton pretend like they speak for all of black America.
