The Nuclear Option: Benjamin Netanyahu Believes in American Exceptionalism; Why Doesn’t Obama?

Appearing before Congress, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu laid bare terrifying truths about the statements, actions and intentions of the “Islamic Republic” of Iran — as diligently studied from less than 1,000 miles from Tehran, as the missile flies.

“Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei spews the oldest hatred, the oldest hatred of anti-Semitism with the newest technology,” Netanyahu intoned. “He tweets that Israel must be annihilated. He tweets!”

Mr. Netanyahu paid great homage to President Obama, Democrats and the U.S. Congress, which he called “the most important legislative body in the world.” Unlike some, Mr. Netanyahu is a true believer in American Exceptionalism.

Of course, all freedom-lovers around the world forced to stare down the barrel of a gun or living under the boot of tyranny believe in American Exceptionalism.

For them, it is their only hope.

Mr. Netanyahu warned that American politicians living so far outside Iran’s neighborhood may not fully comprehend just how barbaric and brutal Iran’s aims really are.

“America’s founding document promises life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” he said. “Iran’s founding document pledges death, tyranny and the pursuit of jihad.”

They hang gays, persecute Christians, enslave women, maim people for violating the Koran and openly support terrorist networks.

So it was a little surprising how quickly Washington’s perennial partisan bedwetters leapt to their safe ramparts 6,320 miles away from Tehran with Sturm und Drang against Mr. Netanyahu’s speech.

In hysterics, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi declared she was near tears throughout the speech. But not over the barbarity of the Iranian regime. Rather, she was stung “by the insult to the intelligence of the United States as part of the P5 +1 nations, and saddened by the condescension toward our knowledge of the threat posed by Iran and our broader commitment to preventing nuclear proliferation.”

Mr. Obama pointedly skipped Mr. Netanyahu’s speech but was quick to dismiss it as “nothing new.” He may be as arrogant as he is ignorant, but at least he is modest.

Negotiating with such feral beasts as Iran’s theocratic dictators is certainly dangerous. It is also a fool’s errand.

And who better to tap for a fool’s errand than Secretary of State John Kerry himself! The fool’s fool, the very jester in the court of jesters!

John Kerry’s unbridled whorishness for a deal with Iran has become so desperate that even The New York Times felt compelled to print a front page story this week about the “unseemly intimacy” between Kerry and Iran’s foreign minister, Javad Zarif. The story chronicled the long hours alone together, the private emails and even their river walks together.

Mr. Kerry fancies himself a shrewd statesman on the global stage. But, in truth, history only remembers for his failure to beat former President George W. Bush in the 2004 presidential election.

Unless, of course, he strikes a deal with Iran that leads to the annihilation of Israel. Then he will finally be remembered for something else.
