With Obama’s attorney general nominee, Loretta Lynch, still lacking the votes for confirmation, Democrats are looking for four pro-gun control Republicans who will cross the aisle and support Lynch’s nomination.

Democrats are doing their best to shame Republicans into this by labeling reasoned, pro-Second Amendment opposition to Lynch in racist jargon.

But according to The Hill, gun rights groups are digging in their heels to dissuade Republicans from crossing over to do what Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL) did in December, when he broke with the GOP and gun owners everywhere by giving Democrats the one vote they needed to confirm anti-gun Surgeon General Vivek Murthy.

With Democrats hoping to get a vote on Lynch this coming week, the NRA drew up petitions with over 170,000 signatures supporting the Second Amendment and opposing Lynch, whom the NRA warns will simply be “Eric Holder 2.0.”

The NRA asked Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to hold the line and not even “bring her nomination to the floor unless Democrats can find the 60 supporters needed to break a filibuster.”

Now would be a good time for McConnell and other Republicans who benefited from the mid-term elections to remember that voters put them in office to stop Obama’s gun grab, not simply to criticize if from afar, then go along with it in the end.
