On April 13, the NRA reported that 78,695 gun rights supporters attended the annual convention–held in Nashville this year–which is nearly 9,000 more attendees than the NRA expected.

On Apirl 11, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America held a rally in Nashville to oppose the NRA’s presence, and it was attended by roughly 150, counting children and pets.

Breitbart News attended the NRA convention, which The Tennessean reports was “the second-highest in attendance ever for the 144-year-old event.” Moreover, the NRA convention proved to be the “most attended event” yet for the two-year-old Music City Center, which housed the Nine Acres of Guns displayed by various vendors and firearm manufacturers.

The only annual NRA convention that was bigger than Nashville was the 2013 convention in Houston, which drew “86,228.”

Breitbart News also attended the April 11 Moms Demand Action rally and spoke to women from Texas and other states who were in attendance. We also listened as group founder Shannon Watts cheered the fact that women are still disarmed on campuses in many states and, as she told the 150 or so attendees, “Together, we are shining  the spotlight on extremist policies that the gun lobby used to pass in the dark.”
