On the morning of May 28 an 8-year-old boy and a 32-year-old woman were both shot in the head and killed in Baltimore, Maryland.

According to CBS Baltimore, “officers were called to the 100 block of Upmanor Rd for a report of a shooting around 8:19 a.m.” on Thursday morning.

Upon arriving on scene the officers discovered “the woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Then police found a second victim — the boy — with a gunshot wound to his head.” Both victims were pronounced dead.

This two shootings and deaths are on top of the 26 shootings that resulted in 9 fatalities over Baltimore’s Memorial Day Weekend.

This violence comes in spite of a massive package of gun control laws signed by then-Governor Martin O’Malley in May 2013. The LA Times reported that those gun control laws included bans on “45 types of assault weapons, [a decrease in] the number of bullets allowed in magazines and [requirements for] handgun buyers to undergo safety training and submit fingerprints to obtain a license.”

Nevertheless, the two deaths on Thursday morning bring the total number of deaths for Baltimore to 37 for the month of May alone, making May the deadliest month on record since December 1999.

Breitbart News previously reported that the White House suggests a solution to the gun control failure in Baltimore is more gun control.
