Conservative Mike Flynn Nets Key Endorsements in IL-18 Special Election

The Republican primary to effectively replace disgraced lawmaker Aaron Schock is down to Conservative Mike Flynn versus establishment candidate Illinois state Senator Darin LaHood, the son of former Congressman and Obama Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.

In the last two days, Flynn has garnered the endorsements of high profile conservatives David Bossie of Citizens United Political Victory Fund (CUPVF), the affiliated PAC of Citizens United and leading conservative activist and voice Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com.

In his endorsement, writes Viguerie, “The Special Election for Congress in Illinois House District 18 provides an excellent example of how the permanent political class in Washington maintains the power they have abused to run this great country into the ground and how one candidate – Mike Flynn – a full spectrum conservative with an unshakable commitment to governing according to limited government constitutional conservative principles could change that destructive dynamic. Flynn’s opponent in the Republican Primary for the seat vacated by the disgraced Aaron Schock is Darin LaHood, an Illinois state Senator and the son of former Congressman and Obama Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.

… LaHood’s Washington-based support is reflective of his record as a loyal foot soldier of the Republican establishment and their big spending, Big Government ways.

In contrast to the Washington focused – and funded – LaHood campaign, conservative Mike Flynn has mounted a grassroots effort that has attracted attention, and support, from the broad spectrum of limited government constitutional conservatives in the district and across the country.

Mike Flynn has garnered other endorsements from conservative leaders and organizations….  But none was more persuasive than that of David Bossie of Citizens United Political Victory Fund (CUPVF), the affiliated PAC of Citizens United, who said “Mike Flynn is a conservative change agent who will promote pro-growth economic policies that will create jobs in Illinois… Out of control Washington spending by career politicians is pushing America to the brink of financial meltdown. Mike Flynn will confront the establishment. Darin LaHood will become part of the problem, not part of the solution.

In response to the Viguerie endorsement,  said Flynn, “I am honored to have the support of conservative leaders like Richard Viguerie who believe, as I do, that it is time to make DC listen. I appreciate the leadership Richard and his conservativehq.com team have provided on the conservative agenda. The support of limited government constitutional conservatives will be key to winning the July 7, Special Election, and I appreciate the endorsement of www.conservativehq.com and look forward to their help in getting my message out across Illinois Congressional District 18.”

The affiliated PAC of Citizens United, Citizens United Political Victory Fund (CUPVF), issued the statement below and contributed $5,000 to Flynn’s campaign. David N. Bossie, President of Citizens United said:

Mike Flynn is a conservative change agent who will promote pro-growth economic policies that will create jobs in Illinois. Out of control Washington spending by career politicians is pushing America to the brink of financial meltdown. Mike Flynn will confront the establishment. Darin LaHood will become part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Illinois voters have a clear choice on July 7th and they can send a message to Washington by voting for conservative candidate Mike Flynn for Congress.

Said Flynn in response, “I’m humbled by the support from Citizens United. Leaders on conservative reforms, they have also been champions of free political speech. My campaign is about the freedom of voters, not party bosses or the establishment, selecting their representative in Congress. With support of voters and conservatives like David Bossie and Citizens United, I’m confident we’ll win.”
