Republican presidential candidates are all weighing in after the revelation from undercover video that captured a Planned Parenthood official discussing the money acquired from the sale of aborted baby body parts.
GOP presidential candidate and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee – prior to any of the new revelations uncovered by the video about Planned Parenthood – put in his pledge to Americans that as president he would fight to defund Planned Parenthood.
On May 14th, just about one week after his formal campaign launch, Huckabee vowed, “I will stand for the sanctity of all human life from the moment of conception until the grave. Taking this unequivocal stand includes fighting to defund Planned Parenthood.”

Planned Parenthood has proven to be a repulsive, revolting, stomach-churning enterprise that should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Destroying innocent human life and harvesting human organs is beyond barbaric–it is unimaginably immoral, grotesque, and evil. What makes America unique is our respect and sanctity of the value of every single human being. Planned Parenthood does not represent these values and deprives millions of children of their God-given right to life and liberty.
Huckabee’s Senior Communications Advisor Hogan Gidley told Breitbart News that while serving as governor of Arkansas, Huckabee implemented a partial birth abortion ban, the Fetal Protection Act, and Baby Sharon Law, as well as an abortion waiting period. Prior to serving as governor, Huckabee helped pass a constitutional amendment that protected life from the time of conception. Arkansas gave zero dollars to any abortion provider.
Breitbart News broke the story Tuesday of an undercover video that was recorded last summer by a pro-life group, Center for Medical Progress. The video allegedly shows the chief medical officer of Planned Parenthood of America discussing how to abort a child in a way to harvest the body parts that can be transferred for scientific and medical research. The edited video is roughly eight minutes, and in Dr. Nucatola from Planned Parenthood is seen in the video discussing a business partnership with StemExpress, a company which is a middleman, allegedly buying and selling fetal tissue.
Following the news surfacing about the undercover video, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) –GOP presidential candidate – called for Congress to investigate Planned Parenthood. Sen. Rand Paul, also a GOP candidate, is calling for his supporters to sign a petition to defund Planned Parenthood.
GOP candidate Dr. Ben Carson is echoing both Cruz and Paul in calling for Congress to investigate and for supporters to sign a petition to defund Planned Parenthood. GOP candidate Carly Fiorina responded to the video by posting on social media, “This latest news is tragic and outrageous. This isn’t about “choice.” It’s about profiting on the death of the unborn while telling women it’s about empowerment.”
Fellow GOP candidate Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) also reaffirmed his push to withdrawing Planned Parenthood taxpayer funding, while GOP candidate Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA) is calling for his state’s health department to launch an investigation and halt licenses for new abortion clinics. “I have instructed Louisiana’s Department of Health and Hospitals to conduct an immediate investigation into this alleged evil and illegal activity and to not issue any licenses until this investigation is complete,” Jindal told Breitbart News.
