Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) released a statement calling on President Barack Obama to lower the American flag at the White House to half-staff.

Blackburn’s statement argued the flag should be lowered “in honor of five service members who were killed in the Chattanooga shootings last week.”

In a recent interview with Fox 17,  Blackburn said, “He is the commander in chief, and for flags not to fly at half-staff is just beyond comprehension. This is a part of we as a nation grieving that members of our military were shot in the line of duty.”

Blackburn also posted on Twitter, “US flag flies half-staff over the Capitol to honor #Chattanooga victims. Mr. President, I urge the WH to do the same.”
