Have we reached peak political insider? NBC announced it has hired President Obama’s former White House chef as “Senior Food Analyst” less than a year after he married MSBNC news host Alex Wagner.

“[Sam] Kass will cover a variety of topics from healthy eating and wellness to emerging food trends and policy,” the announcement reads, previewed by Mike Allen’s Playbook.

Kass was a personal friend of the Obama family and took a leading role in First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative to combat obesity.

The Obama family made a special trip last summer for Kass’s wedding to Wagner, traveling to a special restaurant the Pocantico Hills where the ceremony was held. Prior to the wedding, Obama even spent a “bachelor” evening at Kass’s home for several hours.

In his new role, Kass will “report” for NBC news platforms including the Today show, NBC Nightly News and write a monthly column for the website.
