A combination of an unemployed husband’s humility by standing outside Busch Stadium handing out resumes and his wife’s social media savvy by posting the picture on Facebook has triggered a flurry of news stories around the world.

On Wednesday night, Cardinals fan Donnie Grooms, dressed in slacks, a dress shirt, and tie, stood in front of a hand-lettered sign reading “unemployed, my family’s dreams don’t work unless I do. Please take a resume,” holding a sheaf of resumes. His wife Jennifer posted the picture of her husband on Facebook.

The picture was shared by Donnie and other Facebook users, prompting posts on Reddit and Imgur. Donnie Grooms said he was “overwhelmed with responses” after the image was posted, triggering him to state he had to pause from responding because “My wife was just diagnosed with pneumonia last night and our daughter is also sick.” He also listed his email address and details of his LinkedIn account.

Grooms posted that his skills include expertise as a health and wellness coordinator, human resources generalist, training specialist, and office administrator.

He previously worked with On Time Toner.

KMOV reported that Grooms has received job offers from all over the globe, including South Korea and the United Kingdom. KMOV stated Grooms will continue his adventure by repeating his actions on Sunday at the St. Louis Rams game.
