Iran Deal: Iran Announces New Uranium Discovery

SWITZERLAND-IRAN-US-NUCLEAR

Days after Senate Democrats blocked a Republican effort to disapprove of the Iran deal, the Iranian regime revealed that it discovered a large amount of uranium ore, which it intends to mine for material to feed its nuclear program.

“[T]he new discoveries have made us confident about our reserves,” said Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, as reported by the Times of Israel, which was quoting Iranian news agencies.

The uranium was discovered using aerial surveys that detect trace amounts of radiation, and the discovery was likely known to the Iranian regime during nuclear negotiations.

The discovery makes it possible that Iran will become self-sufficient in uranium, and will not need to import uranium for nuclear power–or nuclear enrichment towards producing weapons-grade material, which it may do when the Iran deal expires after 10-15 years.
