SIMI VALLEY, California — The GOP candidates are beginning to arrive at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California for the second GOP presidential primary debate and are sharing what they have done for preparation for tonight.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s senior communications advisor Hogan Gidley told Breitbart News usually Huckabee spends the day relaxing or does something fun.

Gidley said that at the last GOP primary debate in Cleveland, they went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “We were supposed to be there for one hour. We were there for three and a half,” he laughed.

Gidley continued, “He just loves to relax. He doesn’t watch TV. He doesn’t look at his phone, no tweets, no texts, no news. He’s already got all of his information.” Adding, “You don’t know it by now, you just don’t know it.”

Gidley said Huckabee knows the issues, “He’s ready.”

He concluded, “Today is just the time to decompress, be with friends, be with family. We just goofed off and laughed about football and funny things going on the rail and that was pretty much it. He’ll go back and kind of decompress and relax, get dressed and come on up.”

Breitbart News reached out to Anna Epstein, spokesperson for Carly Fiorina – the standout winner from the first GOP presidential primary debate last month – to find out what she has done for her pre-debate prep.

Epstein told Breitbart News, “Carly had lunch with her husband, Frank, and has been playing solitaire on her iPhone to stay relaxed and focused today.”

Jason Miller, Cruz for President spokesman, told Breitbart News in the filing center that “We feel really good about where things are in the race.” Miller said:

Sen. Cruz continues to grow his standing in the polls—I think that’s a combination of a couple things. The first debate was voters’ first opportunity to really get to know Sen. Cruz. He got to talk about his father’s story, talk about his personal faith. There are aspects about his bio that while the crowd in D.C. may know the general public is still getting to know. Other things that have come up are the rise of national security, especially with the Iran deal recently, and religious liberty debate. These are issues that Sen. Cruz has been out in front on for a long time and where his strengths are as a candidate—the issues he’s leading on—are matching up with what the American people are talking about. What we see tonight is another opportunity to demonstrate that.

Dr. Ben Carson shared his debate preparation exclusively with Breitbart News, saying he got a haircut and played pool to relax.

CNN is hosting the debate and revealed that GOP presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) drew a cross next to his name on the podium where he will be standing later tonight.

GOP presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) went to a California shooting range to unload – or maybe reload – before heading to the Ronald Reagan Library for the debate.

Paul and fellow GOP candidate New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie had one of the most heated exchanges in the first GOP debate over NSA surveillance. Breitbart News previously reported that it was one of the most talked about exchanges on Facebook during that debate.
