Vice President Joe Biden is still weighing a run for president, but CNN reports he doesn’t plan to announce his intentions in time for the first Democratic presidential debate this month.

According to people close to Biden, he is not preparing for the October 13 Democratic primary debate in Las Vegas and is not expected to join the candidates on stage.

Once expected to announce his intentions at the end of September, Biden is now signaling that he won’t reach a decision until the latter part of October. Other reports have suggested that he may wait as long as Thanksgiving before making a decision about the race.

The New York Times reports this morning that Hillary Clinton’s campaign is taking Biden’s run seriously, working frantically behind to scenes to get commitments from donors and delegates to Hillary.
