The Secret Service has been called to give protection to Donald Trump and Dr. Ben Carson, the two current frontrunners for the Republican Party nomination for president, in the wake of threats on their lives.

The news comes on the tail of Trump’s call for the Secret Service to extend their protection to his campaign.

“I want to put them on notice because they should have a liability,” Trump told The Hill last week. “Personally, I think if Obama were doing as well as me he would’ve had Secret Service [earlier]. I have by far the biggest crowds.”

Trump even needled the Secret Service for its tardy response. “They’re in no rush because I’m a Republican. They don’t give a sh*t,” Trump laughed.

According to a source who spoke to Newsmax on Saturday, October 17, the Secret Service and the FBI are becoming alarmed by the growing number of threats that both Carson and Trump are receiving.

Carson in particular has come under threat. In fact, sources say the threats against Carson are “off the charts,” especially since his recent comments that he would not vote for a Sharia-practicing Muslim for president.

But real estate mogul Donald Trump has also come under serious threat with his position against illegal immigrants from south of our border, not to mention his disparaging remarks about Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, the latter of whom has reportedly put a one-hundred-million-dollar bounty on the GOP frontrunner’s head.

Trump’s son Eric, a top member of his father’s business empire, told Fox and Friends that his father deserves Secret Service protection.

When asked why his father has not received adequate security, the younger Trump said:

I think that’s a great question for [the Secret Service]. Every time I go to one of these events with him, there’s 30,000 people, there’s 40,000 people, there’s mobs of people, and the energy, it’s incredible. But it really only takes one, all right. It really only takes one. So I wish they would, and maybe that’s a selfish thing. Maybe that’s a son speaking on behalf of a person he loves. I really wish they would, but I think in time, it will come, and hopefully, it’s sooner rather than later.

Sources also said that Dr. Carson has been resistant to taking Secret Service protection, but recently relented when officials briefed him on the actual threats they have uncovered.
