President Obama is signaling concern that Planned Parenthood has become a focal point in the political debate.

“I think it’s fair to have a legitimate, honest debate about abortion,” Obama said. “How we talk about it, making sure that we’re talking about it factually, accurately, and not demonizing organizations like Planned Parenthood I think is important.”

He argued that Planned Parenthood continued to offer “health services” to women all across the country, including in poverty stricken areas.

Obama has a history of supporting Planned Parenthood, including delivering a major supportive speech to the organization in 2013.

“I want you to know that you’ve also got a president who’s going to be right there with you, fighting every step of the way,” he said. “Thank you, Planned Parenthood. God bless you.”

Obama remarked during his press conference that it was important to stop terrorist attacks “wherever they occur” including the United States, arguing that America had to come together to keep guns for people who were “deranged” or had “violent tendencies.”
