A fundraising Consultant for the Polk County Republican Party, MacKenzie Dreeszen, tells Breitbart News her alumna status was revoked by her sorority, Delta Phi Delta, at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa because of her “Conservative political beliefs.”

Dreeszen had posted on social media about defunding Planned Parenthood and “#AllLivesMatter.”

“Some of my former sorority sisters took offense that I posted a photo on Facebook of a rally in Des Moines to defund Planned Parenthood,” Dreeszen exclusively tells Breitbart News. “They also stated that my support of the phrase “#AllLivesMatter” was racist.”

Dreeszen said she learned that it was a former alumna sister that contacted current leadership and successfully convinced them to take away her alumna status.

On November 7th, I emailed the Greek Life Coordinator at Cornell College and asked her if she had shared my letter with the Cornell Greek Council. She responded on November 10th to let me know that she shared my letter, and that the Greek Council discussed the need for all Greek groups at Cornell to re-evaluate their constitutions this year. She did not elaborate.

Delta Phi Delta president Sarah Johnson and the sorority treasurer Kathleen Nordie provided the following statement to Breitbart News:

We are extremely disheartened by what happened in this situation. Our main goal as members of Delta Phi Delta is to promote sisterhood and respect of all members past and present. Our current sisters range in political beliefs from extremely conservative to extremely liberal and everything in between. We want diverse beliefs throughout our sisterhood, and members are encouraged to look at others’ viewpoints and examine their own.

MacKenzie’s alumnae status was revoked not because of her political beliefs, but because of her treatment of current Delphis. While we wish this situation had never happened, the treatment of current sisters is our top priority. After her response to direct insults to our current sisters, several current members brought their concerns to the leadership and Judicial Board. Her alumnae status was revoked by a unanimous vote of all our current members as a consequence of the way she acted.

Although the disagreements stemmed from politically driven posts this outcome was based on her actions, rather than her beliefs.

All of our members know that MacKenzie is a Republican, and we supported her. We wish her successes in her future endeavors and are saddened by this entire situation.
