The Leominster police department sent out a warning to residents about a phone scam in which the caller claims to be a member of the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL).

A Google search shows the number belongs to T-Mobile on a cell phone in Los Altos, CA.

The man is very hostile towards the person he calls. He told one person he would burn the house down.

Authorities notified the FBI.

Leominster is located 52 miles northwest of Boston.

In October, The Independent reported the Islamic State received funds from “telephone banking scams operating in southern England.” Fake police and bank staff informed customers that their bank account was compromised and encouraged them to “transfer money into accounts controlled by the suspects or to withdraw cash. A courier from the criminal network is dispatched to the victim’s home address and picks up the cash.”
