As December came to a close, U.S. Border Patrol Agents announced two raids, one on an apartment on the Texas-Mexico border and another on a truck with a secret hiding place. The action resulted in the arrests of 41 illegal immigrants.

On December 31, the agency announced that an apartment in Palmview, Texas, a small town on the border, was raided and 31 illegal immigrants were found within. All were arrested and slated for deportation.

Border Patrol agents said that those arrested included immigrants from such countries as Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. In addition the agents arrested a woman identified as the owner of the apartment.

The agency also announced that a semi truck with a secret compartment was stopped near Falfurrias, Texas. Inside agents found 10 illegal immigrants packed behind the secret wall.

Border Patrol agents arrested the driver of the truck who has not been publicly identified.

This is far from the first time that a truck sporting a secret compartment has been stopped at the Texas check point. Two years ago another semi was stopped. At that time 15 illegals were apprehended by authorities.

Falfurrias, Texas, 80 miles north of the Texas-Mexico border, is notorious as a region where immigrants are found lying dead after failing to make the arduous, illegal trek across the border.
