Rand Paul: Iran Should Release Sailors ‘Safely and Immediately’

GOP presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) responded to the situation with U.S. sailors being held by Iranian military on Tuesday evening.

“I hope this gets resolved as soon as possible,” the Kentucky Senator stated. “Iran should act in a civilized manner and release our troops safely and immediately.”

Iran is currently holding 10 U.S. Navy sailors and two small ships, but has reportedly promised to return the men and the ships.

“The White House expects the situation to be resolved quickly,” reports KDSU. “A senior administration official said there is nothing to indicate this was anything hostile on the part of any entity in Iran, adding that the U.S. has received high-level assurances that the sailors will be released promptly.”
