Former New York Gov. George Pataki, a former 2016 GOP presidential candidate, endorsed Sen. Marco Rubio (R-TX) on Tuesday during an interview on Fox News’s America’s Newsroom.

Pataki said Rubio “has the leadership, he has the vision” to be President of the United States, as well as the ability “to understand what it takes to defend us from radical Islam.”

Pataki touted Rubio’s experience in the U.S. Senate as being able to lead and “bring us together.”

“I’m going to do everything I can to help Senator Rubio,” Pataki told Fox News’s Martha MacCallum.

Pataki, asked about fellow GOP candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), said Cruz is “a valuable asset…in the U.S. Senate.”
