Rafael Cruz, the father of Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), responded on Thursday to the attacks from rivals Donald Trump and Sen. Marco Rubio by saying that, “all that Ted has done is call out their record.”
Trump and Rubio have ramped up attacks on Cruz, calling him a “liar.” But Rafael told Breitbart News Daily Host, Stephen K. Bannon, that his son has simply stated their records.
“All my son has tried to do is correct the record,” Rafael said. “When someone expresses an opinion that’s contrary to their record, all that Ted has done is call out the record.”
“The response to that is to call him a liar,” he added.
Rafael also discussed the need for principled individuals to get involved in the political process.
“Too many people of principle have said ‘politics is a dirty business I don’t want any part of it.’ But you see, if the people of principle don’t get involved in the political arena, if the people of principle are not running for office, if the people of principle are not voting, then of course…all that is left then is people without principle electing candidates without principle.”
