In an “open letter” obtained exclusively by Breitbart News, Admiral James “Ace” Lyons, U.S. Navy (Ret.), urges voting members of the NRA to give serious consideration to a recall effort based on board member Grover Norquist’s alleged past ties to Muslim Brotherhood operatives.

The recall effort follows Norquist’s April 2015 reelection to the NRA board amid heavy opposition from Glenn Beck and others. In mid-March Mediate.com reported that Beck threatened to quit the NRA if they did not end their relationship with Norquist. Beck made clear his concern was Norquist’s alleged ties ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.

In the letter, Lyons informs voting members that they will receive a “Special Issue Ballot” in the March 2016 issue of their respective NRA publication–America’s First Freedom, American Rifleman, etc.–allowing them to “endorse” the recall of Norquist from the NRA board.

Lyons writes:

In the interest of ensuring you are able to cast an informed vote, I wanted to share several of the key findings of a dossier documenting Mr. Norquist’s longstanding involvement with prominent operatives of the Muslim Brotherhood, including two who were convicted on terrorism-related charges.  I joined nine other prominent national security professionals – including former Attorney General Michael Mukasey, former Director of Central Intelligence R. James Woolsey, former U.S. Representative Allen West, former federal prosecutor Andrew C. McCarthy, former U.S. Ambassador Henry Cooper, former Defense Department Inspector General Joseph Schmitz and retired Lieutenant General William “Jerry” Boykin – in calling attention to this very troubling record back in February 2014.

Lyons then points to certain “findings” he hopes NRA voting members will consider, among which are the depth of Muslim Brotherhood involvement in American politics and government and Norquist’s alleged ties to operatives in organizations “identified by the federal government as Muslim Brotherhood fronts.” Lyons listed those operatives as “Abdurahman Alamoudi, Sami al-Arian, Nihad Awad and Khaled Saffuri,” and he claims “Grover Norquist has had personal, professional and/or organizational associations with each of these Muslim Brotherhood operatives…over the past [eighteen] years.”

He writes that Norquist’s alleged “connections, organizations and personal efforts have enabled the influence operations of Islamists, including Iran.”

Lyons asked NRA voting members to give due consideration to these things when given the opportunity to endorse the recall of Norquist from the NRA board.
