Ben Carson’s leading adviser Armstrong Williams tells Breitbart News Daily host Stephen K. Bannon that despite having won no states and accumulating only three delegates last night in the Republican primary, “On this day, Dr. Carson has every intention of going forward and staying in this race until he decides that he’s going to do something else.”

Williams was also asked about a report that GOP operatives plan to offer Carson at chance to run for a Senate seat in Florida, given that Sen. Marco Rubio has said he won’t run for re-election.

GOP operatives told CNN early Wednesday morning that they’ll push Ben Carson to drop out of the Republican presidential race, and instead run for a U.S. Senate seat from Florida.

It’s unclear how receptive the retired neurosurgeon will be to their pleas. Carson did not appear to be going anywhere as Tuesday night drew to a close.

Williams said the report is “meaningless,” adding, “Whatever is being spun, Dr. Carson’s intentions are to stay in this race.” Williams added that Carson feels he was “drafted” by “we the people” to get in this race and he isn’t in it to do favors for anyone. He also scoffed at the notion Carson should drop to help either Sens. Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio.

Said Williams, “People are saying well, if you get out of the race, it gives Cruz a chance to overcome Trump. It gives Rubio a chance to overcome Trump. Dr. Carson’s position is that Cruz and Rubio must win whatever they win going forward on their own.”

“He is not in this race to favor anyone. He was brought into this race by ‘we the people.’ He feels as though he was drafted,” he added.
