OXON HILL, MD– Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said Friday that Trump probably canceled his CPAC appearance because “Somebody told him Megyn Kelly was going to be here.”

“So Donald Trump is skipping CPAC. I bet somebody told him Megyn Kelly was going to be here. Or even worse, he was told there were conservatives that were going to be here,” Cruz said to a packed house at the Conservative Political Action Conference at the Gaylord Hotel.

“Or even worse, he was told there were libertarians who were going to be here,” Cruz said. “Or even worse, they were told there were young people who were going to be here.”

Some audience members began chanting, “Trump, Trump” but were quickly drowned out by cheers from Cruz supporters.

Cruz continued to hit Trump, poking fun at his campaign slogan.

“It’s easy to talk about making America great again, you can even print that on a baseball cap,” Cruz said. “But the question is– do you understand the principles that made America great in the first place?”

Cruz also criticized Trump for saying at Thursday night’s debate that he is flexible.

“Flexible is code word in Washington, D.C. for when they’re getting ready to stick it to you,” Cruz said.
