An anti-Donald Trump rally flew Mexican flags from cars and trucks on Sunday as it rolled through the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, local Fox affiliate KTTV reports.

“Most of the cars carried Mexican flags — in a clear protest over Trump’s plan to build a wall at the border,” KTTV reported, adding that the protest was peaceful.

The Mexican flag was also flown at an anti-Trump protest in Chicago on Friday, after demonstrators succeeded in shutting down a planned Trump rally. The campaign canceled the event after consulting with law enforcement.

“We stopped Trump!” demonstrators shouted in Chicago.

As Breitbart News noted:

Trump has criticized illegal immigration from Mexico, as well as the Mexican government and Mexico itself. One of his core policies is to build a “wall” along the border — and have Mexico pay for it.

In addition, some radical activists on behalf of amnesty for illegal immigrants believe that the southwestern U.S. should revert to Mexico. The Mexican flag is also waved in pride at some other, less radical pro-amnesty rallies.

Protests have escalated across the country as Trump inches closer to the delegate majority needed to win the Republican nomination for president — though it is still possible he will fall just short, leaving the ultimate decision to the delegates at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July.
