Organization Exposes Abortion Pill ‘Lies’ As Obama Administration Expands Use

A new animated video is exposing what pro-life organization Live Action says are “lies” about the abortion pill procedure that essentially “starves a baby to death over a period of days.”

In March, abortion business Planned Parenthood celebrated the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) decision to authorize expanded use of Mifepristone – also known as RU-486 – an abortion pill that is taken during the first trimester of pregnancy. The FDA has approved a new label for the drug – manufactured as Mifeprex — that relaxes the guidelines for its use, allowing it to be used at a lower dosage for ending pregnancies up to 70 days of gestation, rather than the former 49 days. Mifepristone is used in conjunction with Misoprostol to end the life of the unborn baby.

Members of Congress last week sought scientific evidence from the FDA to justify relaxing its guidelines.

“Despite the euphemisms that the abortion industry uses to dehumanize them, these children aren’t just ‘clumps of cells,’” said president and founder of Live Action Lila Rose. “At 10 weeks, a baby has arms and legs, and she can suck her tiny little thumb, open and close her jaw, stretch, and even sigh.”

“Contrary to what the abortion industry tells women, chemical abortion isn’t a simple set of pills that make a pregnancy magically disappear,” she continued, adding:

An RU-486 abortion cuts off blood and nutrients to the growing preborn baby, slowly starving her inside the mother’s womb. Then the mother takes another drug that causes intense contractions and heavy bleeding to force her dead baby from her womb. She’s usually laboring at home without any medical supervision.

In the new video, former abortionist – turned pro-life advocate – Dr. Anthony Levatino uses medically accurate animations inside the uterus to show how an RU-486 abortion slowly starves a baby to death over a period of days. He also explains the effects on the mother.

Expanded use of RU-486 from 7 to 10 weeks of pregnancy is sure to bring more clients to an abortion industry that has suffered recently in the wake of an undercover investigation that exposed Planned Parenthood’s apparent fetal tissue trafficking practices. According to the FDA itself, clinical studies show use of the abortion pill at 10 weeks has triple the drug’s failure rate of the old seven-week limit, an outcome that indicates more women will be subjected to two abortions, since a follow-up surgical abortion will be required to complete the process.

“This latest FDA move isn’t about making things better for women, but about President Obama paying back an industry that has given him millions in campaign contributions and now wants something in return,” Rose concluded.

Live Action’s “Abortion Procedures” project has, for the first time, offered the public the opportunity to see what happens during an abortion. Each four-minute video features Levatino using medically accurate animations to describe the four most prevalent abortion procedures.
