Police charged a man in Tempe, Arizona, with bestiality after he was arrested in a sex sting at a local motel.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reported that 47-year-old Mesa resident James Hauser was arrested after attempting to arrange a sex act between himself, his dog, and four women.
Unbeknownst to the suspect, however, the deal was being made not with a prostitute, but with an undercover police officer.
After allegedly arranging on Craigslist the time and place he wanted to meet for the illicit sex acts, Hauser was arrested at a Holiday Inn.
Animal services has taken the suspect’s dog into custody, and Hauser was booked into the 4th Avenue jail and is awaiting court action.
The arrest comes on the heels of the Tempe Police Department’s awareness campaign on sexual assault.
“So many stories of violence, loss and victimization all too often go unreported,” Tempe police chief Sylvia Moir said. “Through patrol action, tenacious investigations, and the many dedicated partners we are most fortunate to work with, we are determined to make positive strides in addressing this epidemic.”
