On June 7 the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence president Dan Gross released a statement in which he boasted that gun control is a central plank of Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

Gross pointed to the fact that Clinton has been consistently anti-gun and lauded her as the first candidate “to win by running on a…[gun control] platform.”

He added:

Hillary Clinton has been a great leader and fighter for so many important movements and causes, not the least of which is our shared mission to save lives by keeping guns out of dangerous hands through expanded Brady background checks and by stopping ‘bad apple’ gun dealers.

Gross did not mention that it is harder to name a high-profile attacker from the last 15 years who didn’t pass a Brady background check than it is to name those who did. Breitbart News previously reported that the list of alleged and actual high-profile attackers who acquired their firearms via a Brady background check includes:

Mainak Sarkar (UCLA), Sayed Farook and Tashfeen Malik (San Bernardino), Noah Harpman (Colorado Springs), Chris Harper Mercer (Umpqua Community College), Vester Lee Flangan (Virgina), John Russell Houser  (Lafayette), Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez (Chattanooga), Dylann Roof (Charleston), Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi (Garland), Jared and Amanda Miller (Las Vegas), Elliot Rodger (Santa Barabara), Ivan Lopez (Fort Hood 2014), Darion Marcus Aguilar (Maryland mall), Karl Halverson Pierson (Arapahoe High School), Paul Ciancia (LAX), Andrew John Engeldinger (Minneapolis), Aaron Alexis (DC Navy Yard), Tennis Melvin Maynard (West Virginia), Wade Michael Page (Sikh Temple), James Holmes (Aurora theater), Jared Loughner (Tucson), Nidal Hasan (Fort Hood 2009), Jiverly Wong (Binghamton), Seung-Hui Cho (Virginia Tech), Naveed Haq (Seattle), and Mark Barton (Atlanta).

Yet Gross is thrilled that Clinton wants to expand the failed background checks so that they cover even more gun sales. And he glossed over the myriad gun control failures to celebrate the fact that Clinton has been pushing gun control since at least 1993.

Gross wrote:

Hillary Clinton was with us when the Brady Bill was signed. She was with us at the Million Mom March. She was with us in the Senate to fight the corporate gun lobby. She was with us in Charleston. She wore orange with us on Gun Violence Awareness Day and she’s been with us and our 94 chapters every step of her campaign. And that’s why we’re with her.

On June 5 Clinton told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that government has “a right” to regulate the Second Amendment.
