Senator Jon Tester’s (D-MT) nephew Robert Tester was found dead on Tuesday after being attacked in his own home by a man allegedly armed with a sword and a knife.

Robert was 35 years old. He lived in Spokane, Washington, where his body was discovered.

According to the Daily Mail, Robert’s “eight-year-old daughter told the Spokane Country Sheriff that she was half asleep in bed with [her dad] when a man charged in the room with ‘a sword and a knife.'” The man allegedly told her “to stay in bed because he was going to kill her dad.”

At 7:30 a.m Tuesday, “an ax like maul and bags of cannabis were found next to Tester’s corpse which was discovered in ‘a large pool of blood.”

Police have not named a suspect, but they point to Robert’s last Facebook post to indicate he may have known an attack was imminent: “There’s gonna be some hard days ahead of us but I want you all to know that I was victimized by someone close to me. Someone I treated like a brother and trust. I love you all and hope you can understand my never-ending pain.”

Robert added: “He took my best friend from me and turned her life into darkness, thru drugs and manipulation.”
