Utah Republican Jason Chaffetz Will Vote for Donald Trump, But Won’t Endorse Him

Jason Chaffetz Unendorses Trump Fox 13

In somewhat of a reversal from past comments, Utah Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz is now saying he will vote for GOP nominee Donald Trump because “Hillary Clinton is that bad.”

Chaffetz took to his Twitter feed on October 26 to tell constituents that he was going to vote for Trump regardless of his past comments against the nominee. Chaffetz said that despite Trump’s problems, Hillary is a far worse prospect for the White House.

This is a little different attitude than Chaffetz exhibited earlier in October when he insisted he was “out” and “could no longer in good conscience” support Trump.

During an October 10 interview with CNN, Chaffetz was fairly definitive on his inability to support the nominee.

“I can no longer in good conscience endorse this person for president,” Chaffetz said of Trump. “It is some of the most abhorrent and offensive comments that you can possibly imagine. My wife and I, we have a 15-year-old daughter, and if I can’t look her in the eye and tell her these things, I can’t endorse this person.”

Chaffetz made his comments after a decade-old audio tape of Trump making lewd comments about a woman with Access Hollywood personality Billy Bush was released.
