Trump Team Explains Delayed Press Conference on Business Transition: ‘That Takes Time’

Spokesman Jason Miller says President-elect Donald Trump delayed a press conference pertaining to his business because the transition will take time.

Trump had been scheduled to discuss the handover on Thursday, but will instead wait until January.

“The President-elect, being one of the country’s most successful business leaders, obviously has a great number of businesses, a great number properties and developments that he has put together and quite frankly, that takes time as he transitions away from being the leader of this very successful company to becoming solely focused on being President of the United States,” Miller explained.

“There are obviously internal considerations as far as what the structure would look like for family members that will be taking the reins of the business,” he added.

Miller said the priority is to make sure Trump’s team gets it right “and if that takes a little bit more time then I think the American people understand that and I think they realized that when they voted for this successful business leader as opposed to a politician.”

On Thursday morning, Trump posted on Twitter about the media covering his move to the White House in regards to his business interests.

Miller adds that Trump looks forward to having a press conference next month and explaining his business plans in more detail; however, no date for the January press conference has been set.
