Smoke Shop Owner Gets Shot Multiple Times But Manages to Open Fire, Kill Robber

A Houston, Texas, smoke shop owner who was shot multiple times managed to pull his own gun and return fire, killing one of two robbery suspects.

The incident occurred Thursday at the Uvalde Tobacco store around 10 pm.

ABC 13 reports that customers were in the store when the two suspects entered.  The customers called 911 and the dispatch operator could hear the sound of gunshots in the background. Houston Police Department Richard Ridel said, “It appears to be a robbery and an exchange of gunfire between the store clerk and the robber happened.”

When the exchange of gunfire ended one robbery suspect was dead and the second had fled the scene. KPRC reports that the store owner “was shot several times” and hospitalized in critical condition.

Police released video of the two suspects in hopes that it will help identify the one who fled the scene:
