Five Fun Images Show How the White House Prepares for Halloween

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are preparing to celebrate Halloween at the White House after it got a festive makeover over the weekend.

The White House began the spooky Halloween transformation Saturday as the grounds crew placed cobwebs, lights, spiders, and purple lights all over the property in preparation for the October 31 holiday.

White House social media director Dan Scavino tweeted a photo of workers placing cobwebs on the South Portico:

The White House also brought some Halloween fun inside when the president invited children of the White House press corps inside the Oval Office Friday to trick-or-treat in their costumes:

The White House is just getting started with their Halloween fun. Melania Trump announced that the White House’s South Lawn would be open to trick-or-treaters on October 30, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the night before Halloween.

“Trick-or-treaters will enjoy seeing the South Portico decorated in spider webs, creating a festive look and feel. There will also be bats and orange pumpkins with profiles of past presidents. Fog will fill the air, and the trees and south facade will be lit with different colors throughout the night,” the White House said in a statement.

The release also notes that the president and the first lady will hand out cookies from the White House Pastry Kitchen, Presidential M&M’s, and other treats to visitors.

The White House has celebrated Halloween every year since the Eisenhower administration, except for 2012 when Hurricane Sandy pummeled the East Coast.
